Online Christian Radio Stations
Although I do like a wide variety of
music, sometimes I don't like surprises.
So much of modern rock 'n roll can be
pretty vulgar, and it can really ruin my
mood to hear something I'm not expecting
that offends my tastes. Other people can
listen to what they want, but for me and
my children, only acceptable and
appropriate music will cut it. That is
why, when I will have to put on the
radio, I listen to Christian radio
stations.
The used to be only one Christian radio
station in town. It wasn't bad, but it
was a bit too contemporary for my taste.
I like a mix of different Christian
music. I like some Christian rock and
Christian contemporary, but most of the
stuff I'm really into is the older style
of gospel music. I love bluegrass,
African-American gospel music, and even
older choir music. I like music where
the emphasis is on the voices of the
people singing in harmony, not the
instrumentation or the fancy studio
processing.
That is why it is such a blessing to be
able to use Christian radio stations
online. The great thing about the
Internet is that, no matter what tastes
you have, you can find something that
will gratify them. My some can listen to
Christian rock whenever he wants, and I
can listen to all gospel all the time.
There are Christian radio stations
literally giving music away for free
over the web to anyone with an Internet
connection. It is almost too good to be
true.
One of my very favorite ways to listen
to Christian music online is through a
website called Pandora. Basically, you
put in a band or song you like and they
give you other music with a similar
sound. Although you are not guaranteed
to only hear gospel music when you put
in the name of a gospel band, that is
most of what will come through the
speakers. It lets you hear all kinds of
new bands that play a similar style of
music to the ones you already know you
like. It is one of the best ways I know
to discover new and interesting
musicians. Even people I know who don't
like gospel music enjoy Pandora. As long
as it is popular music from the last
sixty years or so, you stand a pretty
good chance of being able to find it on
Pandora.

Visiting A Scandinavian Wonderland
Scandinavia - made up of Denmark,
Finland, Sweden, Iceland and Norway - is
a unique destination that has to be
experienced to be truly understood.
Denmark is the smallest of these
Scandinavian countries and home of the
Little Mermaid along with other
fairytales. This country is incredibly
rich in history. It provides visitors
with an unusual combination of bustling
cities filled with modern buildings
alongside tranquil countryside,
scattered with historical sites such as
forts and castles.
If you are a connoisseur of music, you
are sure to enjoy one of the numerous
music festivals held throughout the
year, including the ever-popular
Roskilde Festival. These music festivals
include a vast selection of music:
blues, gospel, classical, Irish, rock,
jazz, country, folk and blues. The major
music festivals are held from June
through to August each year, followed in
September by a lavish ?rhus Festival,
incorporating a traditional Viking
Festival. The ?rhus Festival is an
experience not to be missed, complete
with jousting, jesters and copious
lavish traditional feasts.
Finland, also a fine blend of
centuries-old culture and modern design,
is full of intriguing cities scattered
throughout the countryside. Travel
outside of Helsinki to discover the
Lapland wilderness or breath-taking
lakes towards the east. In as little as
an hour and a half from Helsinki you can
find yourself in beautiful Iittala, home
of some of the world's most superb glass
designs. This region is full of the
finest quality glass-blowing along with
many exquisite glass exhibitions by
local artists.
While you are visiting Finland you
simply must experience a relaxing, yet
exhilarating, traditional sauna. You
will find these a part of most
Scandinavian luxury tours.
With such incredible waters around
Finland, you can spoil yourself by
chartering a yacht to sail around the
peaceful islands for a few days? or
weeks! There are also many exciting
luxury cruises of Finland on offer.
Believe it or not, Sweden has much more
to offer than Ikea and ABBA. The
classical city of Gothenburg is
definitely worth visiting for its
upmarket design, shopping and the
Gothenburg Opera. Even if you don't
indulge in an operatic show, the modern,
prominent Gothenburg Opera building
itself is worth visiting. In contrast,
Malm?, just 20 minutes from Denmark's
Copenhagen, has a more continental
atmosphere. This is an ideal region to
relax in a five star resort, overlooking
the cosmopolitan seafront. While there
are many activities on offer in this
region, it's also the ideal place to get
away and relax, sipping your cappuccino
or a glass of fine vino while watching
the local fishing boats.
Iceland is known for its clean cities
and friendly locals, along with its
nature, art, festivals and fashion. For
a true Scandinavian experience, here you
can walk on a glacier or go
whale-watching, then follow that by
enjoying award-winning gourmet cuisine.
There are also a variety of galleries
and museums to be found amongst designer
fashion houses.
An essential part of any luxury
Scandinavian holiday is to unwind in one
of Iceland's many outdoor thermal
swimming pools.
At the northern end of Scandinavia is
Norway, where the weather is
surprisingly mild, considering its
proximity to the North Pole. Here you
can discover the history of Norway's
famous artists, explore the plentiful
fjords, experience dog sledding - or
just watch dog sledding in action from
the sidelines.
If you ever thought that luxury holidays
don't include train trips, think again!
The train ride between Norway's Bergen
and Oslo is quite amazing and has been
described throughout the world as being
the most comfortable and beautiful train
rides. You will be taken at high
altitude through some of the most
mesmerising Scandinavian wilderness that
is sure to leave you lost for words.
Along with your choice of 5-star
Scandinavian hotels, there are many
superb chalets throughout this region,
ideal for a luxury honeymoon. As for
which of the five Scandinavian countries
would be best to visit - they each have
something individual to offer. It is
well worth allowing enough time to visit
each of these Scandinavian beauties- you
won't regret it!

Stubb?s Bar-B-Q: Faith and Food, the
Perfect Combination
Sunday mornings are meant for two
things: faith and food. Traditionally,
churchgoers attend mass on Sunday
morning, where they worship and come
together as a community. Also
traditionally, people everywhere enjoy
Sunday breakfast or, depending on
Saturday night, brunch. Eggs, pancakes,
waffles, bacon, biscuits, hash browns,
grits, sausage and anything else that
can be added to the table is. It is a
welcome change from the usual bowl of
cereal, pop tart or nothing that is
consumed Monday through Friday. Now,
ideally, if those two things - faith and
food - could be combined in some way,
you?d have the best Sunday of all. At
least, that?s what Christopher ?Stubbs?
Stubblefield thought when he started
serving a Gospel Brunch every Sunday at
his Austin restaurant, Stubb?s Bar-B-Q.
Stubb?s got its start not in Austin but
in Lubbock, where Stubblefield opened
his first restaurant in 1968. The place
included a jukebox in the corner and
later a stage where jam sessions with
local bands could be regularly heard.
Although popular, Stubblefield closed
the restaurant down and moved to Austin.
He worked at Antone?s, a club in
downtown Austin, for one year, and in
1986 opened Stubb?s Bar-B-Q in the Red
River District.
Today, the Bar-B-Q is renowned for its
great food and drink, as well its very
own rubs and sauces, which can be
purchased online for your own at-home
Stubbs experience. But perhaps the most
famed part of Stubb?s is the Gospel
Brunch, which occurs every Sunday from
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The weekly event
involves, of course, food. Set up
buffet-style, diners can sample
southern-style grits, migas, fried
catfish and BBQ brisket. A create your
own Bloody Mary bar means that you?ll
have the perfect drink to complement
your perfect meal. While you?re eating,
Gospel music will be performed live.
With a different group every week, you
are sure to hear a great range of
talented musicians.
If you?re planning on going to Stubb?s
on an upcoming Sunday, it is recommended
that you make reservations, as this is a
highly popular location - how could it
not be with the all that delectable food
and quality music? So call ahead and
book a table. It is also recommended
that you come hungry. If you don?t, you
won?t be able to try all the buffet has
to offer, and that, undoubtedly, would
be a sin.
The final bit of advice for Stubb?s is
to check out their Web site at
stubbsaustin. This will give you an idea
of what?s in store - who?s playing, what
the full menu entails, etc. It will also
enable you to quell your excitement for
the remainder of the week, so you aren?t
chomping at the bit, waiting for Sunday
morning to roll around. And when it does
finally roll around, prepare yourself
for a true weekend treat. You will walk
into that restaurant ready for
everything and walk out with a happy
stomach, happy ears and an overall happy
disposition. How could you not, when one
man has taken it upon himself to provide
you with the perfect recipe for Sunday
morning: faith and food.

Christian Guitar Tabs
Christian music is the only genre that
encourages a sense of people drawing
together rather than an expression of
individualism. I guess competitiveness
still reigns supreme in Christian music
with people secretly, or otherwise,
trying to out-sing, out-play or
out-praise each other.
The forms of Christian music follow the
other musical genres fairly closely.
Even gospel singing, the original
popular Christian music, shares roots
with blues music. There is Christian
music that has its musical basis in rock
and roll, in country, metal, you name
it. The music sounds the same as secular
music, but the content of the lyrics is
vastly different.
Broadly speaking, Christian songs
express a person's hope of salvation or
faith in God. They can tell a story of
an individual going on a downhill slide
and getting the strength to reclaim
their life through faith in God. Or a
Christian song can be about how great
heaven is going to be compared to how
basically unrewarding this life on earth
is. Whatever the message, it has its
roots in the life of an individual and
its musical basis in the local culture.
Of course, not all Christians go for the
idea of expressing religious feelings
through a music that is usually used to
express sentimental love and sexual
lust. The main argument in the case for
using popular music to carry the
Christian message is that it meets
potential converts on their own ground.
Many Christians believe the
effectiveness of Christian rock music to
carry a spiritual message is undermined
by people in the church who do not like
rock music and want to keep young people
away from it.
Country music has a very strong
Christian leaning. Historically country
music has always been about the trials
of life and love, and often refers to
the fact that we are being watched by
God. Christian country music is greatly
influenced by Gospel music. Glen
Campbell, a country music star for
longer than most people have been alive,
often includes Christian music in his
repertoire. Tennessee Ernie Ford was
another country music great who was
recognized for his recordings of gospel
songs.
So where, if we are interested in
learning Christian songs, are there
guitar tabs available for us to learn?
If you go to the Christian Guitar
Resources, you will find thousands of
Christian songs by hundreds of different
artists. You can even submit your own
tab of a song. The difficulty with
sorting out which songs you want to
learn is that Christian music has
divided into several different genres
with different ways of expressing their
Christianity through music and varying
philosophical ideas on life and
religion.
If you do not already have some kind of
affiliation with a Christian group or
organization, you can just do a web
search for "Christian guitar tabs". This
will give you a large number of general
tab archives with Christian tab
collections or sites that collect
Christian guitar tabs exclusively.
Perusing the lyrics of these Christian
songs will help you decide the
effectiveness of these songs in bringing
people to Christianity.

a step towards understanding this musical phenomenon.
R&B Soul Music Legends
Some say that the only difference
between the rhythm and blues (R&B) and
gospel is with gospel you sing ?Oh
Lord,? while with Rhythm and Blues soul
music you sing ?Oh Baby.? Gospel music
was the root beginnings of soul music
however it is not merely the root that
make R&B what it is today.
R& B soul music came to life as its own
genre during the 50?s. While its
origins may have began around the
northern cities of America like Chicago
it wasn?t long before other cities
followed suit like Memphis, Detroit, New
York, Florence, and Philadelphia.
Many artists throughout the years helped
develop what is known as R&B soul music
such as artist legends like Ray Charles,
Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Barry
White, Luther Vandrose, James Brown, and
Issac Hayes to mention just a few.
Soul music origin?s came from the
influence of gospel music and the more
traditional R&B sounds. The R&B soul
sound of Memphis was more influenced by
the gospel mix in cities like Memphis,
than was the rhythm and blues soul of
Detroit, which came up to become the
smooth, polished sounds of Motown by
artist such as Stevie Wonder, Gladys
Knight, and Marvin Gaye.
If were to have to pick the top ten all
time best R&B Soul artists one would be
hard pressed to limit the list to ten.
You could take into consideration the
artists contributions to the music
industry, however, most R&B artists have
contributed in one fashion or another.
Early top soul artists would have to
include Ray Charles, Chuck Berry, Sam
Cooke, and Elvis. Then as soul music
took on a bit more groove to it and
became known more by Motown/Soul in the
late 60?s and 70?s you would have to add
artists names such as Nina Simone,
Jackie Wilson, Etta James, Ray Charles,
Little Richard, and James Brown.
However, that leaves out a lot of
influential R&B soul artists that have
contributed so much to the still
existing sound of rare soul music found
in may of the more current soundtracks
of today?s artists like Stevie Wonder,
Donny Hathaway, Al Green, Gladys Knight,
Chaka Kahn, Brian McKnight, Kenny G, and
R. Kelly. The list could go on forever,
as I am sure many of you are aware.
That is not even mentioning the soul
artist groups that helped to keep the
love alive. There is something about
some good old rare soul music that will
never leave you, and always have you
wanting more.

History and legends of Rhythm and Blues Soul Music.
Christian Music's Finest Hour
In February of 2005 Judson Cornwall one
on America?s finest teachers and a
prolific author on the subject of praise
died peacefully after a four year bout
with cancer. For the last quarter of his
life he taught thousands how to praise
God. He started his emphasis on praise
and worship in the church at a time when
the praise and worship element of the
music industry was still in its infancy.
Sometime before this grand old gentlemen
of faith died I heard him tell a story I
have never forgotten. He was called to a
Christian home to counsel with a family
that had been experiencing a great deal
of discord among them. He advised them
on several levels on how to deal with
their problems. Finally he said that he
noticed that all the time he was in
their house that he could hear the TV
playing in one room and from the other
rooms came the sound of the radio with
rock and roll, loud hype and advertising
clamor.
He told them to shut off all the noise
and replace it with praise music, gospel
songs and hymns. They took everything he
said to heart and replaced the sound
clutter with good Christian music. On
his next visit to their house he found a
peaceful setting where each family
member conducted themselves quietly,
courteously and with respect. Sound too
good to be true? Make no mistake, it is
true and it will always work. It is the
combined power of the gospel and of
music.
The Bible says that just a few things
from this present time will cross the
great divide and traverse to the
presence of God. They are the souls of
men, the product of loving deeds, and
yes, music. We will be making music and
singing for all eternity. What does all
this say about music? Simply put music,
anointed Christ honoring music has
connected to it an eternal quality. It
is with good cause that those who are
gifted with the power to communicate
Gods message with musical craft call
their work a ?music ministry.?
Those who labor in a music ministry
today have more tools and opportunities
available to them than at any other time
in history. Modern technology has
spawned electronic production and
replicating devices that can host an
entire orchestra in a tiny bit of
circuitry.
Even with just traditional acoustic
instruments the means of publishing and
distributing the sounds of the many
Jubals God has raised to serve him with
music can be spread around at the speed
of light. MP3s, hi-tech digital editing
gear, and the means of publishing and
reproducing the sound by almost anyone
even at home has nearly transformed the
old lumbering and hapless kind of
promotion known in the past.
So what?s going around these days? It
is an understatement to say that the
best is getting better and the fledgling
sounds of the newbies is bringing up the
rear with great promise and skill.
Cross genre is becoming mixed genre in
gospel music. Seeing Doyle Lawson and
Quicksilver appearing with Bill Gaither
was only the beginning. Bluegrass gospel
is being woven into the fabric of
Southern Gospel and old time quartet
gospel music harmoniously, to borrow a
musical term. Hillsong is now in the
good company of dozens of great
contemporary praise groups and the
sounds of worship are popping up in
country gospel and Southern gospel as
well.
Perhaps only a musician might notice
that there is a kind of admixture of
instrumentation going on these days. I
have played five string banjo for thirty
years and guitar for over forty years
and I listen carefully to instruments
and their places in the overall
presentation of any particular piece of
music.
It is not uncommon today to hear
instruments once reserved for a specific
genre being incorporated into the new
sounds of ecleticity?s finest
productions. Celtic and British Isles
instruments like the penny whistle are
carrying melodious strains in the
backgrounds of many of today?s praise
songs. The mandolin and the hammered
dulcimer normally associated with
Appalachian mountain music are showing
up in every genre both as studio
instruments and stage accompaniment.
Christ has promised that he would pour
out his Spirit in the last days to aide
all those who labor to get his gospel
out to the world. (Joel 2:28) There is
little doubt that Christian musicians
and artists are experiencing some of
that outpouring and it is readily
apparent that their music is rising to
meet the day.
This great company of music makers
perhaps will lead thousands in music for
ages to come. We have so many of them we
expect to hear once again as they bring
us a new song in a new and wonderful
time. Who are they? The names are far
too many but for a cross section just
look at the names I found on just a
couple of CDs featuring Christian music
from various genres in my own recently
purchased collection.
You can imagine the songs; I?ll give you
the names. The Chuck Wagon Gang, Porter
Wagoner, Tennessee Ernie Ford, George
Beverly Shea, The Lewis Family, The
Oakridge Boys, The Statler Brothers,
Bill Gaither, Dottie Rambo, Wendy
Bagwell, Melanie Walker, Suwannee River
Boys, The Ruppes, The Melody Trio,
Keith Green, Hillsong, Amy Grant, John
Michael Talbot, Jeremy Camp, The Katinas
and many others.
Most of us in the Body of Christ cannot
imagine our worship experience in or out
of our respective churches and
gatherings without the sounds of these
wonderful artists and musicians. I hope
I may speak in some small way for all of
us in offering our thanks to you all and
this bit of encouragement. Keep up the
good work because as the Lord pours out
his Spirit you will see the best is yet
to come.

mp3 downloads exclusively through the
site.
One of the highlights of Pringle's
career was recording the hymn "Just A
Closer Walk With Thee" with Shirley
Caesar. Pringle recalls, "One day,
Pastor Caesar said, Dez, why don't you
sing with me?' I was floored that she
would offer me that opportunity
alongside all of these legends she has
on her project but that's how it came
about. She asked me and I wasn't about
to turn her down [laughs]."
""Just a Closer Walk With Thee" by
Desmond Pringle is a joyful hymn that
features the Grammy-nominated artist
singing back-and-forth with gospel
legend Shirley Caesar. Both artists have
powerful voices that beckon everyone to
take heed to the song's influential
lyrics. The song has a warm feel to it
and while the instrumentation is
impressive, it is the dueling vocals
that steals the show here. "Just a
Closer Walk With Thee" is an incredible
highlight from Desmond's inspirational
album, 'Be Still'." Eric Hartline,

"Pringle also duets (in real time) with
Pastor Shirley Caesar on Kenneth Morris'
prize find, "Just a Closer Walk with
Thee," making her the second former
Caravan to be featured on this CD (yes,
Cleveland sang with the Caravans - check
your history!)." The Black Gospel Blog
Reviews
Desmond Pringle is a passionate vocalist
with a unique brand of balladry -- and
one of the most talented
songwriter/producers in gospel music
today. Whether delivering his
signature-smooth ballads, thought
provoking lyrics or energetic choir
songs, Desmond has already taken his
place among the ranks of great gospel
artists of his generation. A down to
earth, approachable artist, Desmond's
soulful gospel style has garnered him
the title "Gospel Balladeer" from his
ever-growing base of loyal supporters.
Desmond's journey into professional
music began in the lead role of the hit
gospel musical "A Good Man Is Hard To
Find". His portrayal received an NAACP
Image Award nomination. The native South
Carolinian then relocated to Chicago in
1993 to further develop his musical
prowess. His work as a singer/songwriter
gained him contributions to
award-winning artists including Yolanda
Adams, Bishop T. D. Jakes, R. Kelly and
The Thompson Community Singers. Add to
that-- stellar performances at the
Stockholm Gospel Festival and the award
as the Best Male Vocalist by the African
American Religious Connection. In 1998
his independent release "Psalms, Hymns
and Spiritual Songs" grabbed the
attention of Chicago radio and led to a
deal with Tommy Boy Gospel. "Loyalty"
attracted a broad-base, diverse,
multicultural audience, and Desmond's
first class musical performances won the
enthusiastic respect of music lovers and
accolades of industry professionals
alike.
As a vocalist Desmond's rich,
jaw-dropping vocal range and hallmark
style is reflective of his varied
musical influences. From contemporary
gospel - to the soul - to pop and big
band ---but a Desmond Pringle
presentation always has a serious,
unapologetic traditional gospel "core".
"I grew up in church, so traditional
gospel is definitely a center-piece for
me". As a child I listened to the
wonderful richness of artists like James
Cleveland, The Hawkins Family, Andre
Crouch and Vanessa Bell Armstrong. Even
today, I love that sound. Hearing that
music still stops me in my tracks. Maybe
by today's standards it would be
considered technologically "imperfect"
by some, but for me--the heart and soul
of that music stills comes through loud
and clear. Even 20-30-40 years later,
that is the music that has had - and
continues to have-- a profound influence
on my life and music."
After serving as VP of Urban / Gospel
for Warner Bros. Records the ordained
minister and psalmist was able to spend
quality time working on songs without
any distractions or pressures. "God
blessed and allowed me to slow my pace,"
says Desmond. "It was really a good
place in my life spiritually and
creatively. I spent time getting in
touch with my own heart and focusing on
what I believe God wanted to say next
through my music. " It was out of that
quiet time that his latest musical
offering "Be Still..." was born.
"Life today moves at an incredible pace.
Everything is quick, fast, hurry up, and
microwave, right away, right now. Time
with God often gets squeezed out of the
equation. As a result, people are
stressed, depressed, worried and
fearful. The Word of the Lord for all of
us is to "Be Still". Stop, take some
time and get in the presence of God. God
is concerned about everything that
concerns us. Know that He has everything
under control. Once we do that we can
see His salvation - and His hand at work
in our lives."
"Be Still..." contains new material -
plus tracks from Desmond's participation
as singer/songwriter on award winning,
radio chart toppers including CeCe
Winans and The Born Again Choir and
Bishop Paul Morton and the Full Gospel
Baptist Mass Choir. "Creating music that
is biblically sound, message-driven and
church friendly is important to me, says
Desmond. "I was honored to be able to
work with some of gospel music's most
gifted artists.

Is the 5 String Bass Guitar the
evolution of the Electric Bass?
The 5 string bass represents a
fascinating branch of the electric bass
guitar class. Can you guess the name of
one of the original bass guitar makers
that held off on adopting the 5 string
bass to its main product line despite
introducing the first ever electric 5
string instrument? Read on to find out
more about the 5 string bass.I
5 String Bass History
5 String basses didn?t really start to
appear until the late 70?s when Alembic,
Ken Smith and (by his own admission)
Michael Tobias built one.
The first veritable production 5 string
bass guitar was the Musicman Sting Ray 5
which debuted in 1986. Within a couple
of years, 5 string basses were surfacing
in more and more low-priced models by
major manufacturers such as Ibanez,
Peavey, Yamaha and Washburn.Strangely
enough, because a certain bass
manufacturer stayed away from offering 5
string versions of its bass guitars
until the1990?s, a cottage-industry of
lookalikes started to appear. Custom
bass guitar luthiers began to rise in
popularity by meeting the need for a 5
string bass guitar with vintage styling.
Companies like Sadowsky, Lull, Lakland
and finally Allevo Coppolla filled this
void.
Companies including Spector, Warwick, F
Bass, MTD, Ken Smith, Zon, Fodera,
Pedulla and ESP offered 5 string bass
guitars with their own unique designs.
One particularly unique design is the
fanned fret system used on Dingwall
basses that helps extend the scale
length of the low B string
substantially.
Producing the perfect 5 string bass
required some particular considerations,
with the uneven number of strings, the
neck had to be assembled for increased
stability. Figuring out the best string
spacing, neck width, neck radius,
electronics and scale length took many
years and a lot of different attempts.
Early five string bass concepts often
had necks that were too broad, or that
attempted to cram 5 bass strings into
the same size neck as a four string
bass; neither of which were ideal for
most players. 35? scale basses became
progressively common as a method to
?tighten up? or add definition to the
low B string.
While adoption of the 5 string bass
attained mainstream acceptance in the
90?s with players like Tom Hamilton of
Areosmith, Jason Newsted of Metallica,
David Ellefson of Megadeth and Billy
Gould of Faith No More et al., many
other celebrated bassists chose to
remain with the four string bass.
Bassists such as Geddy Lee, Flea, Marcus
Miller, Billy Sheehan and Victor Wooten
proceed to do the bulk of their recorded
or live performances entirely with four
string basses.
A recent movement towards detuned 4
string basses with a 35 inch scale that
share the equivalent low notes as a low
B equipped 5 string bass happened in the
early to mid 2000s. While the five
string bass appears to be here to stay,
it seems that it has yet to fully
replace the 4 string bass in the fashion
that the electric bass essentially
supplanted the acoustic bass in the
1960s.
5 String Bass Guitar Tunings
The more common tunings for the 5 string
bass are either E-A-D-G-C (high C) or
B-E-A-D-G (low B) with the latter tuning
embodying the most prevalent. Low B
tuned five strings are popular in
Gospel, Hard Rock and Metal music genres
while the high C tuned 5 string bass is
more common in Jazz, Fusion or bass solo
recordings.
The Perfect Low B 5 String Bass
With the low B string, 5 string bass
players have fought to find the right
amount of punch and presence to give
definition to the lower frequencies
without it sounding like ?mud?. Finding
the ?perfect low B? in terms of sound
and feel is an perpetual quest for many
players ? often warranting the expense
of arranging a custom-made bass guitar
from a luthier.
I hope you enjoyed this taste of what
the 5 string bass guitar is all about.
As for my question at the top of this
article ? did you guess that the company
was Fender? That's right, Fender
introduced the ?Fender V? in 1964
limited quantities. It seems that this
particular instrument didn't feature a
low B string, and John Paul Jones was
known to have played one for a time in
Led Zeppelin.
