I usually watch and go to the next vid, but watching and listening to this choir has invoked the spirit of the Lord within me. This so reminds me of my college choir. We were a bunch of kids who was all jacked up and had issues people would not have believed and i see the same with this choir. I see the struggles in your faces, the hurt in your eyes, but I hear the praises from your lips and feel the deep reverence for God in your hearts and I have truly been blessed. Continue to keep God 1st

What Key is this Song in?

  • saythewordone says:

This is an old Hymn written by Ms. Lucy Campbell back in the early 1940’s. Ms. Campbell was an African American Writer who wrote other hymns such as “Touch Me, Lord Jesus,” made popular by the Angleic Gospel Singers. Late in life, she married her long-time friend Prof. Thomas A. Dorsey, one of the founders of Gospel Music.

Jumpoff6684, it eventually resolves to A flat major. The chorus plays around in D flat major but ends on a B flat major chord.

Where can I find the lyrics to this song?

  • Howardgospelchoir says:

    The lyric are:

Lord I hear of, showers of blessing,
Thou are scattering full and free
    Showers the thirty, souls refreshing
Let some drops now fall on me

    Even me Lord, even me,
Let some drops now fall on me.

I have chills all over my body!!! Being a bass, I so wish I could sing in a gospel choir.

GIA publishes this arrangement. It begins with a solo part, then goes to the chorus, which Howards starts off with… It can be ordered online…GIA also host reading workshops, in various States…There you can get copies of the the sheet music along with sample CDs…Dr. James Abbington conducts the reading workshops in Chicago, which are FABULOUS!!

My brutha, just because you’re a bass doesn’t mean you can’t sing in a gospel choir. I have a bass section and we sing gospel, hymns, anthems, and spirituals. You just need to find a competent director who can teach a bass part instead of letting basses sing an octave under the tenors. Hope you find it, and sing to the glory of God, my brutha.

Does anyone know what that progression is from 3:12-3:15?
