    I’ve never been a Lyle Lovett fan but I do like this gospel number. The music is great and Lyle does a good job with his song. It really makes you want to get up and shout. Thanks so much for posting. – Paula

    The studio version is on Joshua Judges Ruth…. definitely a favorite…. You should check out the vid version on Lyle’s site…
    I’m getting hungry for cornbread!

    The album on which this song originally appeared is “Joshua Judges Ruth”. It is perfection on a shiny plastic disc.

    Joshua Judges Ruth…….by far the best recording ever made. I have been listening to it since the early 90′s. I still have it in my changer in my car.

    But…What ever happened to the video (in black and white, of course, lol) to this song? It was good and fine and to be made much over. Is it not “officially” good anymore?

    yeah the preacher’s solo on that album is better…a gravelly voice. then again, i did hear that version first…lyle lovett is incredible, and his band makes him even better.
